Album Info:Here & there I seem to pick up an interesting track or bridge or station perspective that seems to peak my interest. Looking beyond the trains finds the Railroad behind the wheels..... /DL

B&M Station
Title:  B&M Station
Description:  Boston and Maine Station, now a restraunt. I guess the telegrapher hands out menus these days?! The railroads destination, a papermill, now dismantled was off to the left of this perspective. /DL

B&M Station
Title:  B&M Station
Description:  Boston and Maine Station, now a restraunt. Looking south, time table west along the main line right of way. I went to a slide show of B&M in New Hampshire a few years ago. This was a bustling place in the 60s. ! /DL

Water Tank foundation
Title:  Water Tank foundation
Description:  Onawa at its busiest was a wide spot in the middle of the Maine Woods on the fabled Canadian Pacific line through Maine. It was the destination of the Scoot. This train serviced the remote CP stations deep in interor of Maine. I saw the scoot under steam when I was a little shaver of 4 or 5 which puts it about 4 or 5 years after the 470 made its last trip on the Maine Central. At that time there was no road into Onawa. Today you can get there from here with a 20 minute trip off Rt15 through Bod Fish. The road will turn to dirt now n again. When these where taken in 2009 one of the locals (there are only 3 or 4 who live there year round) said there was 1 train a day either east or west, and they tended to run at night. My observations at Brownville indicate that this is still the case. BTW on my visit there were dusty tire tracks on the rail head. I guess the track inspector had been making his rounds. Today most of the RR related structures are long gone. There was 1 building trackside which was a private residence/camp. The one dominant structure still in service is the Bridge a 1/2 mile or so east of the village. It traverses the gorge at the outlet to Lake Onawa. Eastbound the next siding is 5 miles awat at Benson. Westbound youd stopp at Bod Fish 3.5 miles. No yard there now. /DL

The view from Borestone
Title:  The view from Borestone
Description:  I almost didn't include this view. The bridge is just left of center. The Town of Onawa is center frame. Most of the residents are part time and visit the camps on Lake Onawa during fishing & hunting season. A sign track side said NO ATVs or Snowmobiles on RR right of way. BTW I highly recoment the treck up Borestone. It is one of the best views in the state for a 2 hour round trip climb. /DL

Boston & Albany Station
Title:  Boston & Albany Station
Description:  The old B&A sure built em to last. When I visited this station last summer it did not appear to be in use. It was in very good condition however, only needing a little scrapping & paint. The construction quality reminded me of some of the better GT stations. CSX operates the main line just behind the building today. No rail traffic on the hot July evening I was there./DL

Title:  Octoraro Branch of the P&BC
Description:  Jim McDonald & I stumbled onto this scene quite by accident cutting cross country from sooutheast PA to I95 at Perryville. Today the upper bridge is part of the NS Port Road line from Perryville to Harrisburg. The other bridge was on the Octoraro Branch of the Philadelphia & Baltimore Central RR. A brief history is avaliable on the web at: http://www.oatrains.org/OATS%20History%20index.htm Research by Jim. The site is clearly visible from the Moore Road eight miles north on RT 222 from the I95 Perryville interchange. /DL
