Crossing Rt 201 |
Description: |
The west yard lead crosses Rt 201 - In the summer of 2017 4 or 5 days a week CMQ ran Job 1 west from Brownville and Job 2 east from Canada. These two trains met at Jackman where the Amerian crew switched the local lumber yard and swapped trains with the Canadain crew. After an hour or so switching the American crew took Job 2 on east to Brownville and likewise the Canadian crew ran Job 1 west across the boarder and into Canada. /DL |

E705 westbound & upgrade |
Description: |
B&O’s Old Main Line sub has always been noted for tight curves, grades & tunnels. The early 20th century realignment resulted in more tunnels and fills to minimize difficult curves and speed traffic. In the areas I’ve explored on the eastern side of the grade up to Mount Arey the railroad is a real work of art. All along the river valley old grade alighments consiting of fills, cuts, & bridge abutments abound. They tell an interesting story when especially whem compaired with the new alignment with longer and higher fills wider cuts resulting in shallower curves and newer stone culverts. /DL |

C1915. This old post card is postmarked August 31 1917 and originated in Exeter NH. This scene looking west down the yard shows a couple of CP box cars on the left and a scale house in the distance. The station just to the right of the main line with a 5 or 6 bay round house. The box car spotted at the freight house shows D&HO or D&HC 19977 on the origional print. C2010 all this is gone, one main line track with a passing siding are all that remain. The line is operated by the Eastern Maine Railway. The St. Croix River & Canadian boarder is just a few hundred feet behind the camera. /DL |
