Yard looking west  Contributor's Pick!
C1915. This old post card is postmarked August 31 1917 and originated in Exeter NH. This scene looking west down the yard shows a couple of CP box cars on the left and a scale house in the distance. The station just to the right of the main line with a 5 or 6 bay round house. The box car spotted at the freight house shows D&HO or D&HC 19977 on the origional print. C2010 all this is gone, one main line track with a passing siding are all that remain. The line is operated by the Eastern Maine Railway. The St. Croix River & Canadian boarder is just a few hundred feet behind the camera. /DL

Robert Hanley General I believe this view is looking east, toward St. Croix, not west. Google Earth imagery shows a turntable and roundhouse foundation on the south side of the tracks. 3/9/2023 4:58:59 PM
