| This picture post card scene simply says – Dresden Station, Dresden, ME. – which seems rather intersting to this native of the Penobscot Valley since the MEC ran past Dresden on the other (west) side of the Kennebec River. My 1963 MEC track chart shows Dresden as being at MP 48.23 or about half way between Richmond & South Gardner on the lower road. This would place this station in the town of Richmond in the area of east of Iceboro. Perhaps this is why this appears to be a flag stop. A motivated Dresden resident would have to row or swim across the river to climb aboard. Any fine tuning of these thoughts is welcome... ! The date is an estimate. /DL |
