Stone Culvert
When the B&O rebuilt portions of the eastern slope of the Old Main Line around 1905 they continued to install stone culverts as evidenced by this example just a few hundred feet east of the Davis Tunnels east portal. Just visible in this scene are rubber coated steel telegraph wires. One is runs diagonally across this scene apparently brought down by the fallen tree on the left and the other hanging vertically to the right. Just a few hundred feet down stream from this culvert are two more RR related stone culverts which once carried earlier versions of the OML. One is collapsed and the other, larger one carries a state park hiking & bike path. /DL
