Rutland 71
All it says on this old print is MEC #71 in Vermont. The sign says Vermont Farm Machine Co. on the building above the tender. There is no MEC logo on the tender so if this is MEC #71 and the locomotive is on home rails than this scene is likely somewhere on the western end of the Mtn Division. MEC's 4-6-0 #71 was built at Schenectady in January of 1893 with serial number 3997. It was renumbered to MEC 231 in 1900 and scrapped in April of 1915. It appears that this may be Rutland #71. In that case, this locomotive was also built by Schenectady but in February 1910 as New York Central and Hudson River #2037 (c/n 47309) class F-2h with 22X26 cylinders and 69 inch drivers, renumbered in 1912 to NYC&HR #2071, renumbered to Rutland #71 in 1914, still class F-2h, superheater applied in June 1914 and re-classed F-2k, cylinders enlarged slightly to 22½X26, retired in October 1951./DL
