| This photograph looks west across the extension of Mill Street. The whistle post just visible on the edge of the tree line at center frame is for the Spring Street Xing in the distance. Earlier photographs show a whistle post beside the station building. The east switch of Y was at center frame in the trees beyond Spring St. If I have indexed my perspective properly the points of a switch were once just beyond this crossing and the ties from it‘s siding are still evident on the left side of the track today. Other Newport Jct photos show ties from this siding at Spring Street. /DL |
