Album Info:The B&ML ran 33 miles from Burnham Junction with the MEC to Belfast, Maine. Construction was initiated by in 1868. It was completed in 1870. Operation was promptly turned over to the Maine Central in 1871. MEC didn't renew it's lease in January 1926 at which time operation reverted to local control.

Description:  An event from back in the B&MLs MEC days. Where do you supose WM 26267 is today? Long gone to the scrapper OR perhpas still on an overgrown long forgotten siding at Buffalo?? Mathews Brothers was still taking lumber via the B&ML until the line was removed not that many years ago. The company was founded in 1854 is still making wood jonery to this day, see them on the web. /DL

Description:  At MP 18.47 according to the Fall 1936 Employees Time Table, Knox was an hour and five minutes out of Belfast. If I’m properly indexed the barn in the background still stands and the camera is looking north from Bryant Road Crossing. This set of photographs came to me via Ken Woodbury. Description:  At MP29.4 the junction with MEC is just 3 1/2 miles behind the camera. The crossing is for Winnecook road. Today it is 2 lane and the area is well grown up. The section house is gone but the switch and some of the siding are still in place. This set of photographs came to me via Ken Woodbury.
