Description: |
Old No7 arrived at Walkersville, Md. from the Western Maryland Scenic on a cloudy fall Monday. This locomotive was ordered from the Fate Root Heath Company of Plymouth, Ohio in October of 1959. Model CR4 60 Ton with builders serial number 6216. It was built for the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp and shipped to the Aliquippa Works on June 3rd 1960. The 16 page order specification notes that it was delivered with radio remote control capability. It ended up at the East Broad Top yard in Mount Union, Pa sometime around 2000 where it was in yellow livery as EBT Nr. 3 working the standard gauge side of EBTs dual gauge yard. Later it moved to the Western Maryland Scenic (WSMR) where it carried WM livery as Old No 7. /DL |

Description: |
The locomotives have been stabalized for the time being, however the oxidation process is well underway. All over this wilderness are boilers, and steam engine parts for ships as well as stationary lower plants. The following info is from Les Beckman via Tom Travis: "According to J. David Conrad and his books, the 2-8-0 was number 2 on the Eagle Lake & West Branch after being built as LS&MS #780, later # 5780. The later number carried over to the NYC. The Ten-Wheeler was EL&WB # 1. She was built as CH&W #109, then Chicago Jct. # 109, IHB 109/115/15, Potato Creek #8 and then Grasse River # 63. This info should be credited to J. David." /DL |

Job 1 westbound |
Description: |
Job One on this bright Maine Summer day is approaching the bridge over the Kennebec River at East Outlet. The damn at the Outlet controls the level of the Lake and is used to control the water flow at Harris Staton down stream on the Kennebec River. Some of the best Salmon and Trout fishing in Maine takes place in this area. |

BM 330 westbound |
Description: |
The old MEC has lots of slow orders on the main line, however this section is in good shape. WAPO thundered by here at a good clip. I was ahead of the train by only 6 or 8 minutes.... /DL |

CSX 5217 |
Description: |
By my count there are 9 tunnels over the 55 odd miles of the Old Main Line Sub between Relay and Point of Rocks, Maryland. At just over 1000 feet Dorsey Tunnel is one of the longer ones. These scenes were shot on a cool Friday morning about 11 AM in early Spring after a 3 mile walk through the Patapsco Valley State Park. Q217 has been a regular mid-day visitor to the OML when it isn’t routed via the Captiol and Metropolitan subdivisions through Washington DC. /DL |
