Album Info:On my recent sojourn to the west I took hundreds of RR related photographs at several dozen locations. I must admit that, despite the 2-6-6-2 on the BHC and all the power & excitement around North Platt, this venue along the Dakota Southern Railroad in south central South Dakota was a hi-light. I wish I'd spent another day or so pooking around this inactive line. I found the landscapes with a hidden but intact RR peaking trough here and there quite intreaging. As far as I can glean from the internet it has been a few years since a train passsed over this trackage. A brief history & status of the DSRC is listed on Wikipedia and is worth a few moments of study. /DL

Along the Dakota Southern
Title:  Along the Dakota Southern
Description:  This is Stamford, at least this is where the Railroad says Stamford is. There's a switch stand in mid frame. I guess it would be called the West Stamford Switch. The little rabbit ear sign in the lower right must be a flanger warning sign. The line crosses the top of the frame left to right crossing a wooden bridge over a wash and then through a cut into the next valley. /DL
