Album Info:The WS Track Gang stumbled onto this yard at Mt. Union where it crosses Franklin St. Words don't work well to descirbe the hundred or so three foot guage freight cars and the extensive dual guage yard we tripped through on this rainy Saturaday afternoon. We went up to Mt. Union in the hopes of finding a dual guage switch to study and ended up finding a dozen or more We found the dual guage main line cleared and being preped for new ties. Apparently this yard has been bought by the East Broad Top Preservation Association from the Kovalchick family. Hopes are for a tourest opearation to begin here in 2014. On the left (east side) of the main line are 3 or4 sidings filled with hopper cars. To the east of these sidings was a standard guage siding with a dozen or so US Army wood sided / outside braced box cars. To the right (west side) is a cement wall with a 2nd yard below the main line. /DL

Description:  Franklin St. is just behind the camera. A pair of side dump cars are in the lower yard just to the right. If I have the track layout right the track to the left is standard guage with the US Army box cars a few hundred feet behind the trees from this perspective. A lot of old ties have been recently removed here. The guys are standing near the brink of the wall that supports the main line above the lower yard. All the trackage south from here is dual guage. /DL
