Title:  Fair Grounds Wreck
Description:  The Lewiston Fair Grounds Wreck C1902. It looks like double headder with MEC 28 & 30 hit or were hit by a passenger train coming in the other direction. I date this photo to the summer of 1902 and the scrap date listed in RR History for #30 in Sept. 1902. Both locomotives came from the Portland works and began service on the European and North American RR. #28 was E&NA #16, became MEC #82 and renumbered to #28 in 1900. Built in 1880, rebuilt in 1893 and scrapped in April of 1905. #30 was E&NA #9 which became MEC #78 and renumbered in 1900 to #30. /DL

MEC sold out to CP years ago and the main track with 2 sidings is now operated by Eastern Maine RR. Other photos show a hotel large station and freight house along with numerious other buildings. /DL

Train 225
Title:  Train 225
Description:  C1900 - In a nutshell.... In 1887 The Dominion Lime Co opened a 4 mile line between Lime Ridge & Doswell Jct., PQ. It was sold to the Hereford Ry in 1889. MEC leased the Hereford in May of 1890. This scene shows a gleeming MEC 126 apparently at the end of track in front of the station. The 225 in front of the head lamp is the train number. The Fall 1904 time table lists Train 225 as departing Quebec City at 7AM & passing through Doswell Jct at 8:35 AM. By this date Lime Ridge had apparently become a short branch on the longer run over the Quebec Central from Doswell Jct to Levis a station on the banks of the St. Lawrence across the river from Quebec City. #126 was an MEC Class H renumbered from 101 to 126 in 1900. From the Portland Works it was built in April of 1889 and scrapped May of 1916. Builders #587. /DL

Description:  From the back of the print – MeC Engine #132 about 1900 West Farmington Me. Engineer F.R.Brown, Boy unknown. Raymond H.Wyman - who I assume was the photorgrapher. Several other notations indicate this print went through a number of hands before I bought it on eBay. RR History sez MEC #132 was one of the few MEC locomotives that did not go through renumbering in 1900. Built by the Portland Works in May 1891 and scrapped in 1914. Builders #612; Cyl 18x24; Drivers 69inches. /DL
