Crossing Spring St |
Description: |
Crossing Spring Street at Newport. The westerly camera angle showing the approaching eastbound train is looking at the spot where the east switch for Newport Jct once was. It joined the Dover Foxcroft Branch with the Main$Line years ago. Today that line is a railtrail and can be walked or ridden the 29.43 miles all the way to the old Jct with the BAR (The B&A to a Mainer) in Dover Foxcroft. Like many scenes along the old MEC strings of vacant ties are still common here and there. /DL |

We had a wait at this crossing. The train had a stop signal at MP 76 a mile round the bend to the west. Once this was clear these photos crossing Rt143 were made. /DL |
